Michigan State University (MSU) may rely on an external independent (commercial) Institutional Review Board (IRB) to oversee the management and review of certain studies, such as for multi-site research or studies that must comply with NIH Single IRB requirements. MSU has reliance agreements with several external independent IRBs, including the Western IRB (WIRB).

Michigan State University’s Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) is pleased to announce that Christopher Gennai from WIRB will be conducting an on-site training with a question/answer period on Tuesday, May 14 from 12:00 P.M. – 1:30 P.M. at 4000 Collins Road, Lansing, MI 48910. The session will also be available through Zoom.  WIRB requirements will be covered to help provide the knowledge necessary for a new submission/study.  In addition to the initial review submission process, WIRB will provide general information about changes in research, continuing review and promptly reportable information. The MSU HRPP will also briefly describe the MSU process for requesting use of WIRB.
