The MSU HRPP Compliance office conducts post approval site visits for certain IRB approved projects. Post approval monitoring serves to educate researchers and to ensure that research is conducted in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, university policies, and ethical standards, and/or the requirements and determinations of the IRB. The HRPP Compliance Office conducts both routine site visits and directed site visits. Researchers may also request an HRPP Compliance visit by notifying the HRPP Compliance or IRB office.
If you are contacted for a site visit, the HRPP Compliance Analyst will notify the Principal Investigator of the project(s) selected and make arrangements with the appropriate individual. The HRPP Compliance Analyst will review procedures with the researchers and review records such as the informed consent and data storage and security. The site visit will begin with an entrance session and end with an exit briefing. A report with the findings will be sent to the Principal Investigator and may recommend corrective actions. Follow-up site visits may also be necessary.
