Research Volunteers

At Michigan State University (MSU), an Institutional Review Board (IRB) reviews research studies that involve people before the research can start. These IRBs are part of the MSU Human Research Protection Program (HRPP).

If you are a research participant, you may contact the Human Research Protection Program, anonymously if you wish, for the following:

  • questions or concerns about your role and rights as a research participant
  • to obtain information or offer input
  • to register a complaint about a specific study
  • more information on human research subject protections
